The Nurse Aide Training program (CNA) is designed to meet the training requirements for the nurse aide in long-term care facilities. Emphasis is placed on achieving a basic level of knowledge of the resident, and demonstrating skills to provide safe and effective resident care. Students will be required to complete a minimum of 30 hours of online work and log in to the course 5 of 7 days each week. Students will have the benefit of utilizing a classroom environment for the lab portion as well as hands-on clinical instruction in a long term care facility. Lab and clinical will be held at Pleasantview Care Center in Kalona, IA. 100% attendance is mandatory for all scheduled lab and clinical sessions. College credit will not be given for this class. Textbook required. Must be 16 years of age or older to take this class. Tuition assistance may fund up to 100 percent of your registration cost for this program. Copy of seasonal influenza vaccination (required only Oct - Mar)
Documentation of two negative Mantoux TB tests OR one Quantiferon Gold blood test. For the Mantoux TB tests, one must be within 11 months of the start of clinic
Required book, included in the class tuition: Hartman's Nursing Assistant Care; The Basics, 6th Edition SBN # 978-1-60425-141-8

Lab/Clinical requirements are as follows:

Scrubs
Closed toe, non canvas, non slip shoes
Watch with a second hand

A non-refundable background check fee of $20.00 is included in tuition. Your log in information will be sent to you via email one day before the class start date. Email subject line: Nurse Aide Training class log in information. Technology requirements: classes can be taken on computer devices using the most up-to-date version of Safari, Chrome, or Firefox. Tablet devices can also be used with the following stipulations: Apple products must access the class using Safari and android devices must use Google Chrome.
