This course prepares participants to understand and support an effective hazardous energy control program in the workplace. Participants will learn how to describe the core elements of an energy control program, including the types of hazardous energy sources, required training, communication practices, and periodic inspection and audit requirements. The course also covers how to recognize which activities fall under hazardous energy control requirements, and which do not, helping participants correctly identify when lockout/tagout procedures apply. Finally, participants will explore the practical application of energy control procedures, including the responsibilities of both employees and employers in ensuring hazardous energy is properly identified, isolated, and controlled.
