Notice

Please read:  Participants bring: Yarn and corresponding hook size that fits yarn, yarn needle and scissors. Safety eyes and stitch markers are optional.
  • YARN: You can use any yarn weight and fiber to make your crochet cat. Keep in mind that the size of yarn that you choose will determine the size of your finished project. This project is intended to be small and more simple, so larger or bulkier yarn is best. The instructor prefers using chenille yarn for amigurumi projects because of the soft fuzzy texture and the smooth finish for projects. (Premier Yarn ** Chenille Basix which can be found on their website or on Amazon) You will need black yarn for your cat facial features which will be stitched on after crocheting the body. Instructor likes to use size 4 medium acrylic yarn which can be found at most craft stores (Walmart - Red Heart Super Saver 4 Medium Acrylic Yarn).
  • HOOK: Be sure to get the appropriate hook size for the yarn you choose to use.
  • YARN NEEDLE: For stitching on eyes if not using safety eyes and for weaving in end piece of yarn.
  • SCISSORSPOLYESTER FIBERFILL (Optional): If you have some, feel free to bring this. Since this project uses such little amounts of fiberfill and it is sold it large bags, this will be provided so you don't need to deal with having so much left over.
  • STITCH MARKER: (or yarn scraps, no need to purchase anything for this if you don't already have these.)
  • SAFETY EYES (Optional): Safety eyes are eyes used for doll making. They come in various sizes and can be found online or in the doll making section of your local craft store. If you do not wish to use these, we will cover how to stitch simple black eyes/nose onto your cat.
