Program Completion Requirements:
This is a pass/fail certificate. Students must achieve 100 percent attendance in order to successfully complete the program.

Course Objectives:
• Identify and safely operate relevant commercial landscape equipment.
• Understand basic landscape design principles.
• Identify plants commonly used in our region.
• Maintain trees and shrubs by pruning, fertilizing, staking, and other methods.
• Accurately read and scale landscape design plans for optimal plant placement and site layout.
• Design and construct structurally-sound, interlocking concrete paving systems as well as segmental retaining walls.
• Understand landscape lighting systems and outdoor living space features, such as small fountains and fire pits.

Learning Outcomes:
Students that successfully complete the certificate program will be able to enter into or advance within the rapidly growing landscape and horticulture industries.
