Next Generation NCLEX® Workshop

The Next Generation NCLEX® (NGN) is looming on the horizon and it changes everything: how we teach, how we test and how we expect students to think. Dr. Anne Brett will explore the shift to clinical judgement for the NGN, identify strategies for faculty to prepare students for the NGN and share best practices for creating valid, reliable assessment strategies. Join your colleagues as we look to the future of nursing education and prepare for the NGN.
 
Learner Objectives: 
  1. Describe how Next Generation NCLEX® focuses on clinical judgement
  2. Discuss examples of Next Generation NCLEX® test items
  3. Identify active learning strategies to facilitate critical thinking and clinical judgement
  4. Write reliable, valid test questions that assess clinical judgement based on critical thinking and decision making

Audience:   This workshop, sponsored by the Department of Nursing at Kirkwood Community College, is intended for nurse educators. 

Location: Kirkwood Center, 7725 Kirkwood Blvd SW, Cedar Rapids, Ballroom B & C

Registration for this program is restricted to nursing faculty from Iowa Community College Schools of Nursing and faculty from the University of Iowa, Mount Mercy University, St. Ambrose University and Upper Iowa University Schools of Nursing.
Cost includes breakfast buffet, plated luncheon and snacks.
Check-in starts at 8:00 AM; workshop will begin promptly at 8:30 AM.
