Making Work for the Anagama

This course will focus on the making of ceramic work specifically to be fired in Kirkwood's large wood-fueled kiln, the Anagama. Topics covered in this course are: Hand building, wheel throwing, clay bodies, glazing, firing, and more. In the session following this, Firing the Anagama, students will load the kiln on June 3rd and begin an 84-hour kiln firing session. Each student will be expected to sign up for a 6-hour shift between June 5-8 to help maintain the proper conditions. Kiln unloading will take place on Saturday June 15 from 10am-4pm.
