« back to classes page
Iowa fire departments oftentimes have to be flexible in application of their abilities because of the differences in water supplies in urban versus rural settings. The morning classroom portion of this course will discuss what it takes to work as a team to establish and maintain an adequate water supply at a structure fire, whether utilizing hydrants in the city or hauling water to the country. The afternoon hands-on session will allow students to apply what they have learned, including hooking hydrants, laying handlines, and drafting water from portable tanks.
