This course is a basic strategy and tactics course, which was introduced in Iowa back in 1993. From revisiting the material and updating the contents to current times, this course can still apply today to most firefighting situations. Emphasis is placed on operations involving the single-company response to a working structure fire. The primary difference between the single- company response and any other response is the operational capabilities. This course differs from other tactics courses by limiting the participants to the resources typically found in a small fire department. These resources usually include one or two engines and perhaps a tanker.
