Dependent Adult Abuse and Mandatory Reporting

It is the role and responsibility of all mandatory reporters to protect dependent adults from harm both self-inflicted and perpetrated by others. The goal of this training for health providers is to increase their knowledge of dependent adult abuse.  The curriculum for this program is approved by the Iowa Department of Public Health Abuse Education Review Panel, approval #163. 100% attendance is required for CE credit. Objectives:  1) Express an awareness of the existence of dependent adult abuse; 2) Define abuse situations and the concepts that will assist in identifying abuse; and 3) Explain the responsibilities and duties of mandatory reporters.  Nursing Contact Hours: 2.0.  CEU/CEHs: 0.2/2.0 *Medical Assistants (*responsible for own approval), Direct Care Staff, Nursing Home and Residential Administrators, Psychologists, Department Heads, Physical Therapists, PTAs, Occupational Therapists, OTAs, Social Workers, Dental professionals, EMS providers (informal hours).

Please read:  This course is run over the KTS system and is broadcast to 8 different Kirkwood locations. Please sign up for the location closest to you. All participants receive a certificate of attendance. 100% attendance required for CE credit with 2.0 Nursing Contact Hours/ 0.2 CEUs / 2.0 CEHs awarded. Nurses and Allied Health professionals will be asked to record their license number on the sign-in sheet when they arrive for the class. Iowa Board of Nursing Provider #30. Iowa Dental Board Approved Sponsor. Linn County Regional Center participants: The parking lot and main entrance are located on the north (far) side of the building.
