The Kirkwood EMT Practical adheres to the IDPH-BETS state approved practical examination requirements. The exam includes seven (7) psychomotor skill evaluations. Each of the skill stations are evaluated using the skill sheets developed by the NREMT. Stations will include:
1. Patient Assessment/Management - Trauma
2. Patient Assessment/Management - Medical
3. BVM Ventilation of an Apneic Adult Patient
4. Oxygen Administration by Non-rebreather Mask
5. Cardiac Arrest Management/AED
6. Spinal Immobilization - Supine Patient
7. One Random EMT Skill, which is selected by the IDPH prior to practical exam date from one the following four skills: Joint Immobilization; Long Bone Immobilization; Spinal Immobilization - Seated Patient; or Bleeding Control/Shock Management. Candidates will be informed of the random skill on the day of the exam. This is determined by the IDPH and the student cannot select which skill they would like to test.
