Protocols for Continuing Education Students

Effective May 13th, 2022, the following is an update on the latest health measures being taken by Kirkwood according to CDC guidance. Kirkwood has always been a community that prides itself on working together to achieve our goals, and our response to COVID-19 has been no different.

There are a few simple steps we all can take to help make this academic year productive. It takes all of us working together to keep our campus community safe:

  1. Get vaccinated. This is the most helpful thing you can do to protect yourself, your friends, and co-workers and to prevent the spread of COVID-19. COVID-19 vaccines are readily available, safe, and highly effective. Vaccines are available for free in many locations.
  2. Stay home if you are sick. This is especially true if you have a fever, shortness of breath, loss of taste or smell, or other symptoms of illness.
  3. Get tested if you have COVID symptoms. Testing is readily available through Test Iowa, local health care providers, and many local pharmacies.

If you are exposed to someone who has or may have COVID-19:

If you are vaccinated:
  • If you are experiencing symptoms, you should quarantine and get tested as soon as possible.
  • If you do not have symptoms, you do not have to quarantine. However, we strongly encourage you to wear a facemask on campus at all times and monitor your symptoms for 14 days. You also should consider getting tested for COVID-19 after three days of your exposure. More information on COVID-19 testing availability is can be found here.

If you are not yet fully vaccinated:
  • You should stay away from campus and isolate for 14 days from the date of your exposure. Students are responsible for contacting their faculty members and are also responsible for following instructor policies on making up missed work, assignments, tests, etc.
