This course provides an exploration of the basics of hand tools, understanding drawings, manual machines and layout. Upon completion of this course students will be able to interpret drawing information, describe basic symbols and notation and interpret basic GD&T feature control frames. Teamwork, critical thinking and problem solving are emphasized. Hands-on experience and practical applications are included. This course provides an opportunity to take the corresponding NIMS exam, and upon successfully passing this exam, the particpant will earn the Nationally Recognized NIMS credential. This course is interconnected with a Kirkwood college credit course. To successfully complete this course, students must pass all required components as this class qualifies as a pathway into a Kirkwood credit program.
