This short-term, noncredit program offers the knowledge and skills needed to become a
professional medical coder in a healthcare setting. Medical coders are responsible for the collection of physician charges and patient data to ensure that claims are submitted accurately and in the most efficient and expeditious manner. They locate and identify codes for physician procedures and diagnosis using ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding protocols for billing purposes. This online program covers anatomy and physiology of various body systems, medical terminology, types of medical providers and insurances, how to accurately code procedures and specialty fields (such as surgery, radiology and laboratory), and medical coding evaluation and management services. Learning will be through a combination of live online lecture and independent online modules. Zoom lectures are every Tuesday & Thursday and are MANDATORY. Program fee includes textbooks. Prospective students must be at least 18 years old and have evidence of high school diploma or equivalent. Last day to register is 10/3/2025.
