Down through history (and even today), tombstone materials have varied. To properly clean stones, you must know what the stones are made of. This class will teach you how to identify the type of material a gravestone may be made of such as limestone, marble, granite, white bronze, and ceramic (terra cotta). You will learn how to identify lichens, how they damage stone, and how to safely remove them. Several types of recommended gravestone cleaning solutions will be discussed including what should never be used to clean stones. No pre-requisite.
