The Kirkwood Culinary KickStart Certificate Program is an excellent introduction to the food service industry. You’ll learn about career paths and communication in the industry, and receive hands-on training in the Kirkwood Culinary Kitchen at NewBo City Market. These classes will provide you with excellent training in order to enter the workplace, or prepare you to continue on in Kirkwood’s culinary credit program. Training includes Serve Safe certification. Classes included: Welcome to the Food Industry, Keeping Food Safe, Workplace Safety, Kitchen Essentials I-Professionalism, Kitchen Essentials II- Equipment and Techniques, Stock Soups and Sauces, Communication for Food Service Professionals, Management Essentials, Fruits and Vegetables, Serving Your Guest, Potatoes and Grains, Building a Successful Career in the Food Industry, Final project. Tuition includes student chef jacket, knife set, textbooks, food and material fees.
