Activity Coordinator Orientation (online)

This course prepares the individual for employment as an activity coordinator in long-term care (LTC) facilities. The curriculum has been expanded to 75 hours and meets the requirements of the State Department of Inspections and Appeals. At the conclusion, the participant will understand the importance and purpose of activities in the resident’s therapeutic care plan, demonstrate ability to coordinate a variety of activities designed to meet the resident’s needs, describe various physical/cognitive limitations of the LTC resident that affect activity programming, relate the importance of volunteer recruitment and supervision to a quality activity program, and indicate basic understanding of rules and regulations that apply to activity departments in various types of LTC facilities.
