Creative Writing: Short Fiction

This is a writing workshop focused on students' attempts and successes in writing 500- to 3,500-word short stories. Seventy-five percent of class time is devoted to drafting, reading, and responding to peers' drafts; the remaining twenty-five percent is devoted to reading and discussing published short stories. You’ll also discuss the elements of fiction as they apply to crafting stories. Prerequisites: ENG-105, ENG-120. This course is interconnected with a Kirkwood Community College credit course. To successfully complete this course, you must pass all required components as this class qualifies as a pathway into a Kirkwood credit program.
