There will be 25 hours required for lab and will begin July 6th at Linn County Regional Center, in Hiawatha. Specific lab times will be assigned based on social distancing protocol. Group 1 lab will be July 13, July 20, July 27 and August 3 - 8:00 AM to 2:15 PM. Group 2 Lab is July 13, July 20, July 27 and August 3 - 2:30 PM to 8:45 PM. Clinical will be held at Hiawatha Care Center in Hiawatha, IA (Instructor Julie Merritts). Group 1 Clinical: : August 10, 11, 12, 13 at Hiawatha care Center 6AM to 2PM each day; Group 2 Clinical: August 12, 13, 14, 17 at Hiawatha Care Center 2PM - 10PM each day. College credit will not be given for this class. Physical, immunizations, and documentation of two (2) negative Mantoux TB tests OR one (1) Quantiferon Gold blood test must be presented to your instroctor the first lab date. For the Mantoux TB tests, one must be within 11 months of the start of clinic. Mantoux TB test documentation MUST be on the Kirkwood form and presented to your instructor no later than the than the first lab date. Additional requirements: 1) Physical exam (form can be found at www.kirkwood.edu/nurseaide), 2) Students must be at least 16 years old, 3) Attendance at each session will be expected, 4) Backgroud check permission form at 222.kirkwood.edu/nurseaide. A non-refundable background check fee of $20.00 is included in the tuition, and 5) Uniform, watch and closed-toe shoes are needed for clinic. If the tuition is being billed to a facility, the facility needs to complete a sponsorship billing form and fax it tio 319-398-7185. The student can then be registered.
