Let’s Grow it Here: The Potential of Local Food

ID : 116583
« back to classes page
Regardless of one's politics, we all eat. Food can be common ground. Now, in our COVID-19 reality, local food security is a high priority. Most of what we eat today is not grown in Iowa, and most of what we discard today can be composted. We will discuss the economic, cultural and policy reasons why we import most of our food in an agricultural state, why we waste food at the rate we do, and the hard work being done here by several stakeholders in the food system, from growers to buyers, to try to reverse those systemic challenges.
