Meet the demand for cross-trained health professionals by adding EKG skills to your resume.  Our comprehensive EKG Technician Training Program prepares you to function as an EKG Technician. An EKG technician is a medical professional trained in operating specialized equipment used to measure the heart’s performance. Technicians work directly with patients, administer the test and provide the resulting data to physicians for analysis.

Electrocardiogram (EKG) tests are critical in helping doctors determine heart health problems in patients. EKGs check the electrical activity of the heart to assess heart rhythm, rate, strength and timing. They can be used to check the heart’s general health and electrical activity, and to look for signs of heart disease, heart attack, effects of medication or causes of unexplained chest pain.

This non-credit course includes important practice and background information on the anatomy and physiology of the heart, medical disease processes, medical terminology, medical ethics, and legal aspects of patient contact. Students will practice with EKG equipment and perform hands-on labs including introduction to the function and proper use of the EKG machine, and other clinical practices.
Primary training is through classroom lectures, online learning and in-class practice on the equipment.  Students will be assigned to a required one-day 8-hour clinical experience.  This clinical experience will be immediately following the in-class lecture and lab portion of the course.  The clinicals will be scheduled during the week, Monday-Friday, between the hours of 7 AM-6 PM.  Weekend clinicals are not available.  Students who successfully complete all components of the course will earn a course completion certificate.
