CPR Instructor (New Recognition)

This course advances current CPR for Health Care Providers to the level of AHA CPR instructor. The first portion of the coursework reviews current 2020 Science and Guidelines for CPR and ECC. This includes high quality CPR for infants, children, and adults in individual and multi-rescuer scenarios, as well as management of foreign body airway obstruction and the the effective use of ventilation barrier devices. Participants must take a written exam and perform skills testing. The second portion of the course reviews expectations of the instructor and evaluates their ability to perform instruction in a group setting. After successful completion of the coursework, the participant is issued access to an online instructor essentials course that must be completed prior to receiving their certification card via email. A $55 instructor manual fee is included in the price of tuition and participants will receive their manual on the day of the course.

Prerequisite: Participant needs to hold a current (not expired) American Heart Association CPR card. Either a Basic Life Support CPR card or a Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED CPR card. Contact cpr@kirkwood.edu for additional questions or clarification.
