It is the role and responsibility of all mandatory reporters to protect children from harm both self-inflicted and perpetrated by others. The goal of this training for health providers is to increase their knowledge of child abuse. The curriculum for this program is approved by the Iowa Department of Public Health Abuse Education Review Panel, approval #2000. 100% attendance is required for CE credit. Objectives: 1) Express an awareness of the existence of child abuse; 2) Define abuse situations and the concepts that will assist in identifying abuse; and 3) Explain the responsibilities and duties of mandatory reporters. CEU/CEHs: 0.2/2.0 *Medical Assistants (*responsible for own approval), Direct Care Staff, Nursing Home and Residential Administrators, Psychologists, Department Heads, Physical Therapists, PTAs, Occupational Therapists, OTAs, Social Workers, Dental professionals, EMS providers (informal hours).
