The purpose of the lecture is to learn the responsibilities the Iowa Dental Board is charged with performing, as well as to review both current and proposed rules, and to discuss areas of concern seen in dental offices. Our speaker is Phil McCollum, who is the Associate Director for the Iowa Dental Board. In his 19 year tenure, he has served as a Health Professions Investigator and served 2 terms as Interim Executive Director. As Associate Director, Mr. McCollum serves as the administrative rules coordinator; working with partners and members of the Board to establish standards for practitioners and serves as a registered lobbyist. Mr. McCollum also serves as the database administrator and project manager for the Board’s licensing database. Prior to working for the Board, Mr. McCollum was employed by the Lucas County Sheriff’s office for 8 years. CEHs: 1.0 Dental Assistants, Dental Hygienists, Dentists 100% attendance required for CE credit. Approved sponsor, Iowa Dental Board.
